Ja hallo ihr Lieben. Für alle die heute nicht viel Zeit haben zu lesen - das Wichtigste zuerst!

Alles Gute, Gesundheit, viel Spaß und viel Kohle euch allen! Den letzten Tag im alten Jahr haben wir ziemlich cool ausklingen lassen. Wir waren in Roddnest Island, einer wirklich abgelegen Insel westlich von Perth, zu der auch eine ziemlich flotte Fähre knapp 40 Minuten braucht.

Und wir waren sportlich! 

Jürgen hat die Strecken erkundet!

Der Hut alleine ist ja schon grenzwertig, mit Radlerhelm ist er aber ziemlich cool :).

und erst die Strände …

und wir waren im Wasser … (ziemlich am Rand, wegen dem Hai! )

mit der Tierwelt haben wir uns auch angefreundet!

So, jetzt werden wir mal versuchen das alte Jahr zu beenden. Wir haben ja einen Vorteil. Wir überlegen uns mal gute Vorsätze, schauen, ob wir die auch 8 Stunden durchhalten. Wenn nicht, dann kommt das neue Jahr halt 8 Stunden später und wir vergessen die Vorsätze!

Nochmal - ich wünsche euch allen das Beste im Neuen Jahr und freue mich schon auf ein Wiedersehen!!

So, morgen geht es dann zum Uluru. Wenn ich noch Zeit habe, bzw. mich noch konzentrieren kann - wir fangen grad an zu feiern - schreib’ ich noch die langersehnte Fortsetzung von “Prinzessin auf der Erbse”.

In diesem Sinne! Lasst es krachen!!

Und die ganze Runde… 

Nachdem wir am nächsten Morgen ja zum Uluru fliegen, haben wir den Silvester ziemlich versemmelt. Hundemüde, haben wir uns gerade noch aufgerappelt zur Jahreswende das Feuerwerk zu fotografieren.

Knapp nach Mitternacht sind wir dann rüsseln gegangen. Also ein sehr konservativer Silvester.

Howdee mates! Wie angekündigt sind wir gestern aus dem regnerischen Surfers Paradise in Richtung Sydney aufgebrochen. Ein langer Weg…

Kaum düsen wir los wird das Wetter besser. Viel gibt es heute nicht zu erzählen. Mit unserer Krücke 1000 km runterbiegen - da fang’ ich mir lieber ein Krokodil. Aber wir sind beide frohen Mutes. Um 6.00 in der Früh gings los!

Die ersten Stunden verliefen eigentlich für Australien unproblematisch und wir schmiedeten schon Pläne, dass wir uns das Hotelzimmer sparen und am Flughafen übernachten werden. Der Flug nach Perth geht ja um 6.05 in der Früh. Männer brauchen da kein Zimmer. Beim gegenseitigen Schulterklopfen planten wir gleich noch einen Zug durch die Gemeinde und das Nachtleben Sydneys. Wenn wir also um 4.00 in der Früh dann von unserem Umtrunk zurückkommen, könnten wir gleich einchecken und den 5stündigen Flug nach Perth vermützen. Guter Plan!

In Australien kommt immer was dazwischen. Heute war es das Wetter, das auch nicht gerade dazu angetan war Vollgas gen Süden zu düsen.

Bei diesen Regenfällen stellt sich die Hälfte der Australier mit eingeschalter Warnblinkanlage an den Strassenrand. Das hat Jürgen sofort auf den Plan gerufen und hat diesen ‘Weicheiern’ sämtliche Fahrkünste abgesprochen. … Selbstverständlich war auch die nonverbale Information für mich enthalten. “Bleib stehen und ich sage dir: ‘Ich weiß wo du wohnst….’”. Also glühten wir guter Laune bei null Sicht in den Süden…

Mit der Zeit wurde das Schulterklopfen schwächer und wir haben uns dann auf ein Hotelzimmer eingestimmt. Aber vorher sind ja noch einige Kilometer zu fahren.

Diesen Strand haben wir fotografieren müssen. Dazu wird aber dann Jürgen genaueres sagen. Ich will nichts verraten…

Nachdem die Fahrt so ereignislos verlaufen ist, könnte ich ja die Serie ‘Die Prinzessin auf der Erbse’ ergänzen. Aber das mache ich heute abend.

Auf jeden Fall ist die Uhr nach 11 Stunden und 10 Minuten stehengeblieben, als wir in Sydey am Flughafen eingerollt sind.

Bis wir das Zimmer dann endgültig gebucht hatten, haben wir noch eine Mütze Schlaf am Flughafen genommen und sind dann von dort mit dem Hotelbus abgeholt worden. 

Der Hotelbus hat schon entsprechendes erahnen lassen …

Das Hotel war aber schlimmer :). Nein - war eigentlich ganz okay - nach dieser Fahrt sind die Ansprüche dann eher nicht mehr sehr hoch.

Das einzige was wir wollten ist um 4.00 in der Früh aufwachen, damit am nächsten Morgen nach Perth fliegen können. Ob uns das geglückt ist, erfahrt ihr heute abend. Bestenfalls sind wir dann nach einem fünfstündigen Flug wieder zurück in Perth.

Ach ja - wie Jürgen auf seinem Blog schon bemerkt hat, hat in Perth ja ein Hai einen Schwimmer verputzt.
Das war aber nicht in der Nähe von unserem Strand.

Uiuiui … und unser Kitesurfkurs beginnt….

 

Da haben wir dann doch unsere Kitesurfpläne ein wenig zurückgestellt.

Als Alternativprogramm melden wir uns jetzt zwischen ersten und zweitem Jänner vom Ayers Rock, auch bekannt als Uluru. Das ist mittem im Outback - so weit kann nicht mal ein großer Hai springen. Das ist doch was. Wir freuen uns schon!

Hallo zusammen! Heute wollten wir eigentlich einen schönen Tag am Beach verbringen - es hat aber ein bißchen geregnet. Also haben wir uns entschlossen Brisbane, das nördlichste Ziel unserer Reise vorzuziehen.

Nachdem das mit dem Hotel gestern so gut geklappt hat, haben wir beschlossen noch eine Nacht hier zu bleiben. Der Typ an der Rezeption hat gesagt: “Yes, no Problem. 200 $ cash - only for you! Wow - ich war stolz. 40 $ weniger - nur für mich! Cool. Also zurück ins Zimmer, Kohle geholt und zurück. Jetzt war ein anderer Typ drin. Blöd! Wie kann ich dem erklären, dass ich ein ‘40$ off’-Agreement mit dem Boss habe. Naja - ich ergebe mich in mein Schicksal und frage was es kostet. Er sagt: 200 $. Aha … Danke - offensichtlich nur für mich - und für alle anderen auch! Dem Boss wünsch ich die Krätze!

Brisbane ist mit 1.8 Mio. Einwohner die Hauptstadt von Queensland und immerhin die drittgrößte Stadt von Australien. Wir haben inkl. Anreise 4 Stunden eingeplant. Das muss reichen! Wir haben uns überlegt, wie man in 4 Stunden eine Stadt durchkaut, die größer ist als Wien. Gegenfrage: Wenn ein Tourist sagt er möchte Wien sehen, schickt man ihn zum  Stephansdom. Und das haben wir gemacht. Es gibt dort tatsächlich eine ‘St. Stephens Cathedral’. Könnte ja nicht besser klappen.

Um ehrlich zu sein, sind wir dann irgendwo in einem Kaffee am Brisbane River versumpft. Aber egal - hauptsache wir können für Brisbane eine Kerbe in unseren Colt ritzen.

Das Wetter wird wieder besser, die Stimmung super! Also zurück nach Surfers Paradise und ab in die Fluten. Ich bin schon ganz wuschig.

Also bin ich den ganzen Strand abgelatscht und habe mich auch ‘halb’ in die Fluten geworfen. Super Location - einfach zum wohlfühlen.

Das Wetter ist dann schlechter geworden - ich habe mich trotzdem nicht davon abhalten lassen schwimmen zu gehen.

Voll im Regen zurück ins Zimmer!

… doch dazu später mehr. Wir sind ja heute früh aus Port Maquire aufgebrochen und da habe ich noch ein paar Fotos versprochen.

Es war heute ziemlich bewölkt und der Pazifik ist dort in der Gegend eher unruhig und doch ein wenig kühl… Sagen wir mal 23° oder so. Also ist es uns relativ leicht gefallen in Richtung Norden, nach Brisbane aufzubrechen.

Die Gegend an der Ostküste ist nicht zu vergleichen mit dem Outbackcharme, den die Westküste hinterlassen hat. Die Gegend ist ziemlich europäisch und kommt einen von Anfang an vertraut vor. Viel Grün, viele Autos und hüglig. Jürgen wird’s ein bisschen fad. Er mäkelt ein bißchen an der Mentaltität der Australier rum und brodelt die ganze Fahrt vor sich hin. 

Die Strassen sind eigentlich nicht schlecht hier und ein gestandener Mitteleuropäer würde die Strecke mit 170 km/h raufdonnern. Geht aber nicht, da nur immer zwischen 70 und 110 km/h erlaubt sind. Das zehrt an den Nerven, wenn man noch über 400km vor sich hat und von einem Stau in den anderen kommt.

Da blubberts aus Jürgens Richtung: “Und die Mc Donalds sind auch viel dreckiger als bei uns!”. Ja, Tischabwischer haben sie keine. 

blubber: “Es schert sich keiner - es schaut aus wie nur was!”. … Ja.
blubber: “Würdest du hier leben wollen? Kein Mensch will hier leben!”. … Nein? - die Australier vielleicht?
blubber: “Ja, aber nur weil sie nichts anderes kennen!”. … Ok.

Lustiges ToiToi (Klo) haben wir gefunden! Ein witziges Völkchen die Aussies. Immer müssen Sie alles genau beschreiben, was zu tun ist.

An der Ostküste gibts viele schöne Strände. An einigen sind wir stehengeblieben - und haben prompt einen Kommunikationsfreak getroffen. Das ist wirklich eine Öffentliche Toilette!! Kein Scherz.

Wir sind Waisenknaben. Dieser Typ ist mein Held! (das rechts ist  bitte ein Notebook!!)

Weil heute Jürgen gerade ein bißchen heikel drauf ist, kann ich ja mal was über ihn schreiben. Die Gelassenheit in Person und ausgeglichen bis geht nicht mehr, gibt es doch einige Dinge die sind grenzwertig :). Ich nenne ihn seit unserer Schnarchaktion ‘Meine Prinzessin auf der Erbse’. Und das ist bei weitem nicht die einzige Erbse, die ich aufzuwarten habe.

Dazu muss ich ein wenig ausholen - macht aber nichts, wir brettern ja grade die Ostküste Richtung Gold Coast rauf - und da gibts nicht viel zu holen.

“Prinzessin auf der Erbse” Teil 2 von unendlich
Episode 2: “Der Campingwagen”. Vor einer Woche sind wir mit unserem Camper 1000 km von Monkey Mia nach Perth gefahren. In einem Stück. Die vollen Cowboys - outbackproofed. Also stellen wir den Campingwagen auf dem Parkplatz vor dem Haus ab - völlig erschöpft, todmüde. Wäre die Miss Perth gekommen und hätte uns auf einen Drink eingeladen - wir hätten besseres vorgehabt. Also ab in die Waagrechte. Jürgen liegt unruhig im Campingwagen. Es war stockdunkel - 11h Nachts - mitten im Wohngebiet. Auf einmal geht das Licht an, Jürgen wirft sich in Unterhose mit Todesverachtung ans Steuer, startet den Wagen, würgt den Gang rein, dass noch drei  Strassen weiter das Licht angehen, dreht eine Runde über den Hof und stellt sich an die exakt gleiche Stelle wieder auf den Parkplatz - nur halt verkehrt. *schluck*. Soll ich so tun, als würde ich schlafen? Ich halt’s nicht aus. Ich muss fragen: Hast wohl nen Rückfall vom Sonnenstich oder was? An den genauen Wortlaut kann ich mich nicht mehr erinnern - auf jeden Fall sinngemäss wird’s sowas gewesen sein. Der Grund war - und jetzt haltet euch fest - der Camper war um ca. 1cm geneigt, dass heißt der Kopf lag weiter unten als die Flossen. Jürgen: “Das kann ich nicht haben! Da hab’ ich am nächsten Tag einen ganz dicken Kopf! Da sind mir dicke Füße lieber. *schluck* Ich schwör euch: Ich hab’ keine, aber auch wirklich gar keine, Schieflage bemerkt. Aber so issi, meine Prinzessin auf der Erbse. Ich glaube ich habe noch die ganze Nacht gegrübelt, warum er den Kopfpolster nicht einfach an die andere Seite des Bettes gelegt und sich einfach umgedreht hat. Aber irgendwann bin ich dann doch eingeschlafen.

Okay - jetzt sind wir knapp vor Grafton, noch ca. 170 km vor Brisbane. Schaltet wieder ein, wenn es heißt: “Die Prinzessin auf der Erbse - Episode III bis IV”. Mehr davon morgen!

Wir haben endlich die Gold Coast vor Augen und kommen dann auch erwartungsgemäß gegen 19.00 in Surfer’s Paradise an. Ich kann euch sagen - beeindruckend. Genau mein Ding.

blubber: “Sieht ja aus wie in Lignano - denkst nicht?” … Ja - oder wie in Miami.
blubber: “Lignano!” … Ok.

Hier laufen beunruhigend viel “No Vacancy” Schilder durch die Gegend. Aber wir sind ja Männer. Wer bucht schon zu Weihnachten im Hot-Spot der Ostküste? Ja, genau: Alle! Wir aber nicht!

Also haben wir uns nicht groß kümmern müssen, was wir die nächsten zwei Stunden machen! Genau - Hotelbesichtigungen! Wir machen das so: Ich fahre - Jürgen springt in die Lobby des aktuellen Hotels und kundschaftet die Möglichkeiten und Preise aus!

Nach dem fünften Hotel wird Jürgen einsilbig.
Aus dem ‘Könntest du bei der nächsten Kurve in Erwägung ziehen links abzubiegen?’ wird: ‘links!’. ‘Stopp’. ‘Weiter’ o.ä.

Ich denke: “Aha - unterzuckert”! Blöd - hab grad keinen Schokoriegel dabei! Egal - das wird schon!

brodel: “Was haben die für eine Einstellung. Keiner an der Rezeption. Was ist das für ein Land?”.
Ich: Australien! “Ja, aber das geht doch nicht!”. Ich: Nein.

Die zwei Hotels, die wirklich was am Beach frei gehabt haben kosteten dann so zwischen 300$ und 600$ die Nacht. Nein - das wollten wir dann nicht. Wir sind nicht käuflich!

Wo ich gehört habe, dass in Jürgen innerlich was zerbrochen ist, war als er im ‘Pink Poodle Motel’ nach einem Zimmer fragt. Allein das Wort verschafft ihm eine Gänsehaut. Ich freudig nickend - Daumen in der Höhe - lässt er sich dazu überreden rein zu gehen. Die Kapuze tief im Gesicht tastet er sich Richtung ‘Pink Poodle Motel’ vor. Ein Brüller! “We are looking for an accomodation for tonight?” A room? No - it’s only a sign! We are a restaurant - we do not offer rooms.

Knack! Das war zuviel für Jürgen!
Er wird wieder mehrsilbig. Raus aus dieser Sch…stadt.
Ich: Ok.

Beim Rausfahren entdecken wir das grenzwärtige ‘Paradise Inn Motel’. Sieht gut aus. Mitten in der Bronx von Surfers Paradise. Der letzte Bandenkrieg scheint auch schon einige Stunden her zu sein. Also rein.

Der Typ hinter der Theke sagt: 240 $ die Nacht, cash!
Jürgen sagt: Ok.
Ich parke das Auto.
Alles wird gut…

Nach einer Dusche waren die zwei Stunden Zimmersuche vergessen und wir auf ins Nachtleben von Surfer’s Paradise! Und jetzt ratet mal wo! Jawoll! In’s ‘Pink Poodle Motel’.

Das Essen war super, die Bedienung eine Sensation. Nachdem wir fast alle der 50 Biersorten durchprobiert hatten, hat auch das ‘Paradise Inn - cash please - Motel’ seinen Schrecken verloren.

Also zurückgewatschelt und ab in Bett. Morgen wartet ein cooler Vormittag am Beach - der Nachmittag ist dann für Brisbane reserviert. Und Übermorgen geht’s dann wieder ein paar 100 Kilometer Richtung Sydney.

Today is ‘Boxing Day’
G’day mates! Viel gibt’s heute nicht zu berichten. Außer vielleicht …
Heute sind wir in ‘Port Maquire’ angekommen, ca. 400 km nördlich von Sydney. Unser Ziel ist Brisbane bzw. vielmehr die berühmte Goldcoast mit seinen Stränden. Surfers Paradise et all. Heute ist nicht viel passiert, da wir die meiste Zeit auf der Strasse waren. Gegen 10 haben wir unser Auto von ‘Trifty’ abgeholt. Gebucht war ein ‘Mitsubishi Lancer, 2.0 or similar’. Wir bekamen dann den ‘or similar’ - einen kleinen Toyota ohne GPS. Also sind wir dann so gegen 10.30 von Sydney bei herrlichstem Wetter losgedüst, rauf Richtung Gold Coast.

Wir haben den öffentlichen Feiertag dazu verwendet uns unter die Leute zu mischen. Das ist uns vor allem auf der Autobahn geglückt, wo wir knapp zwei Stunden im Stau gestanden sind. Tja…

Irgendwo da in der Mitte findet ihr uns. Ach ja - Haischwimmen war auch angesagt!

Die Fahrt war landschaftlich ziemlich stabil und bot von Sydney aufwärts wenig Abwechslung. Im Gegensatz zur Westküste findet man hier ein sattes Grün und Wälder, wie man Sie von uns auch kennt.

In Newcastle, das liegt ziemlich in der Mitte zu unserem heutigen Ziel haben wir uns nochmal kurz verfranst. In Anbetracht der abenteuerlichen Beschriftungen für Highwayaexits und keinen GPS ist das aber nur eine Rundungsdifferenz. Hat uns aber doch ein Stündchen gekostet.

Gegen 20.00 Uhr - wir hatten noch einige Zwischenstops - sind wir dann in Port Maquire angekommen. Über die Öffnungszeiten der Geschäfte, Restaurants u.ä. Einrichtungen auf diesem Kontinent kann man ja nur den Kopf schütteln. Aber das haben wir ja schon angemeckert.

Uns war klar - kein Essen, kein Trinken - aber vielleicht gibt’s ein Hotel. Nun … da waren beunruhigend viel ‘No Vacancy’-Schilder an den Hotels. Und tatsächlich - im “El Paso Motor In - Sea Side” waren noch Zimmer frei.

Das Schild verhieß’ Gutes! 102 cm Plasma und WIFI in all Rooms! Wow! Ich Feuer und Flamme für WIFI, Jürgen ganz wuschig auf den Fernseher. Gebucht!

Das Plasma haben wir bei dem Fernseher zwar nicht gefunden und von 102 cm konnte bei diesem Zeitzeugen aus dem 2. Weltkrieg auch nicht gesprochen werden. Egal -  das Wireless hat unser Vertrauen in die Prospektwahrheit wiederhergestellt. Naja - fast. Das Schild ‘El Paso Motor In - Sea Side’ hat uns ganz schön veräppelt. Das ‘Sea-Side’ gehört nicht zum Hotel, sondern zum Wort ‘Restaurant’, direkt darunter. Das hat man aber nicht gesehen, da die Neonröhre kaputt war. Danke.

Kurz frisch gemacht - ab in das ‘Nachtleben’. Es ist wie im Leben, wenn man sich nichts erwartet, stimmen einen die kleinen Überraschungen fröhlich. Und das war hier der Fall. Wir waren direkt am Strand im “Beach House”. Hier geht die Post ab. Alles junge, hübsche, braungebrannte  und gut aufgelegte Leute. Und wir natürlich. Wir haben dort jeder drei ‘Surf and Turf’ und ein Bier verdrückt - vielleicht war es auch umgekehrt - und sind dann wieder zurück in unser ‘Hotel’ gewackelt.

Wir haben noch kurz die Vorzüge des Internets genutzt, um - und wir sind ja nicht nachtragend - jetzt doch noch in Perth die Delfinschimmtour durchzuziehen. Also haben wir das jetzt für den 31. Dezember gebucht und sind guter Dinge, dass es diesmal klappen wird.

Hier noch ein Blick auf den nächtlichen Beach von Port Maquire.

Morgen gibt’s dann noch ein paar Bilder von den Stränden der Gegend, eventuell halsen wir noch ein paar Koalabären oder drücken noch ein paar Känguruhs, dann geht’s schnurstracks Richtung Norden - knapp 700 km zur Goldcoast. Auf das freue ich mich schon! Also bis morgen!

Tag zusammen! Schaumer mal, was aus dem heutigen Tag so wird. Er beginnt ohne Auto, ohne Gepäck aber zumindest mit einer heissen Dusche und einem respektablen Frühstücksbuffet.

Geschenke auspacken
In Australien werden die Geschenke ja erst am 25. Dezember, also heute ausgepackt. Und wir haben auch ein Geschenk bekommen. Ich hab’s gleich ausgepackt!!

Virgin Blue hat um 8.30 das Gepäck anstandslos und direkt ins Zimmer geliefert. Das ist ja schon einmal ein Lichtblick, aus dem etwas entstehen kann. Wenn alles schon so gut läuft, dann fragen wir doch gleich mal, ob uns der Consierge ein Auto organisieren kann. Sein Kollege hat gesagt er hätte Connections zu AVIS.

Er hat dann tatsächlich seine Verbindungen spielen gelassen. Ergebnis: Kein Auto mehr in diesem Jahr! Danke - ein Rückschlag! Bei strahlendem Sonnenschein und positiver Stimmung wollten wir das so nicht zur Kenntnis nehmen und hingen uns im Zimmer kurz ins Internet.

15 Minuten später war die Buchungsbestätigung eines Anbieters in meinem Postfach. Yeah! Wie geplant geht’s dann ab morgen von Sydney die Goldcoast nördlich nach Brisbane. Direkt unheimlich wie gut das läuft! Yeah.

Also was machen jetzt zwei frischrasierte Österreicher am Chrismas Day in Sydney? Die gefährlichen  Tiere der Westküste haben wir ja schon kennengelernt. Dann schauen wir uns doch mal die maritime Tierwelt rudernd in Sydney an. Hi, Hai!

Wir haben gewonnen. Nach der Haifischflossensuppe am Darling Harbour haben wir dann das schöne Wetter genossen und den Tag genutzt um einige Bilder zu schießen.

Die Größe der Oper wird oft bei weitem überschätzt.

Die Harbour Bridge ist die Verbindung zwischen der Nord- und Südküste des Hafens. Sie hätte es mit 503 Metern fast geschafft zur weitesten Bogenbrücke der Welt zu werden. Aber nur fast!

In Perth noch Kulturbanausen - in Sydney voll dabei. Na - was spiel’ ich da?

Okay dann! Heute war ein Hammertag. Alles ist wieder im Lot! Morgen glühen wir dann mit unserem neu erstandenen Auto die ‘Gold Coast’ rauf und melden uns spätestens wieder in ‘Surfers Paradise’.

24. Dezember, Weihnachten in Sydney
Hello folks! Ich hoffe ihr habt Weihnachten gut überstanden! Was uns betrifft ist alles sehr gut gelaufen. Und es gibt viel zu erzählen. 

Jürgen hat im Wohnwagen geschlafen - ich im Haus. Also um sieben Uhr in der Früh dann Abreise zum Flughafen. Alles läuft gut. Selbstverständlich wie bei jeder Anreise - Jürgen im Clinch mit dem Navigationssystem. Jede vom Navi angesagte Kurve wird von Jürgen als Fehlentscheidung eingestuft - weil “die hat ja keine Ahnung!”.

Die Anreise
Gut, zum Flughafen müssen wir ca. 40 km fahren. Freie Strassen - nur der Weihnachtsmann und wir - und die ‘verlogene’ Stimme aus dem Navi, die Jürgen dauernd foppen will. Nicht mit uns. Knapp 1.5 Stunden später sind wir dann wohlbehalten, mit tiefster Befriedigung, uns gegenseitig bestätigend, dass wir die kürzestete Strecke genommen haben und das Navi eh nix weiß, am Flughafen angekommen.

Guter Dinge dann ab zum Check In. Wir hin zum Schalter. Arschkarte. Es bedient uns eher nebenher ein maximalpigmentierter Mitarbeiter von Virgin Blue, der mehr seine Kollegin mit einem Schwank aus seiner Jugend verwöhnt, als sich uns zu widmen. Mit nahezu völligem Desinteresse übernimmt er unser Gepäck - selbstverständlich ohne uns je eines Blickes gewürdigt zu haben. Jürgen beäugt ihn missmutig. Irgendwie hatte ich das Gefühl, dass die beiden nacher nicht gemeinsam auf ein Bier gehen werden. Endlich - nach einem seitlich gezischten ‘merry chrismas’ hat er uns entlassen. Ja, danke - Sie uns auch! Aber wen schert’s - Sydney wartet.

Der Flug hatte dann knapp eine Stunde Verspätung. Nach vier Stunden problemlosen Flug sind wir dann sechs Stunden später in Sydney gelandet. An der Ostküste sind +10 Stunden Zeitverschiebung.

Bevor wir uns ein Auto mieten wollten, gingen wir noch schnell unser Gepäck holen. Also da standen wir nun. Das leere Förderband, Jürgen, ich und unser Handgepäck. Und das ist auch so geblieben. Jürgen auf 100. Ich ging zum Informationsschalter, wo mir eine nette Damen von ‘Virgin Blue’ dann auf Nachfrage mitgeteilt, dass unser Gepäck wohl in Broome sei - also knapp 4.000 km weit weg. Jürgen auf 200.

Er sagtdas ‘N-Wort’ - in seinen Augen sehe ich unseren Check-In-Freund vom Vormittag, Mr. “Whity Whiteman” und das tiefe Bedauern, dass die Südstaaten nicht gewonnen haben. Tja. Blöd! Auf jeden Fall ist nicht abzusehen wann wir unser Gepäck aus dem verträumten Broome bekommen würden.

Famous last words - ‘Ein Auto zu bekommen ist kein Problem’
Egal. Ich gehe also mit einem sehr zielstrebigen Jürgen unser Auto checken. Gibt’s ja genug. Wir wollten uns mit einem wirklich coolen Wagen Marke ‘Testosteron’ belohnen. Also hin zu ‘Avis’, Brust raus, Kreditkarte auf den Tresen geknallt. Auto! Now! No discussion! Also ein Auto zu buchen war kein Problem - lediglich das mit der Zeit. Aber ab 5. Jänner hätten sie wieder was.

Pah. Nicht mit uns.
Doch. Genau mit uns.
Weder Hertz noch Budget noch EuropCar hatten auch nur eine Stoßstange zu vermieten. 
Jürgen auf 300. Er wirft der Bedienung seinen ‘Du bist nur eine weitere Kerbe in meinem
Colt-Blick’ zu. (schluck)

Egal. Ohne Auto und mit leichtem Gepäck findet man wenigstens ein nettes Zimmer in Sydney - direkt am Hafen, zentral gelegen, teuer aussehend, aber günstig. Zu Weihnachten doch wohl nicht zuviel verlangt. Also wähle ich so eine ‘Sie sind verzweifelt? Wir haben ein Zimmer für Sie - Nummer’. Es meldet sich tatsächlich wer. Die Tante quakt aber so leise, dass ich Jürgen das Gespräch übergebe.

Wir sind so gut wie tot! Ich erinnere - Jürgen immer noch auf 300, dazwischen immer dieses ‘N-Wort’ und ein brilliantes Esperanto der Zeichensprache mit massivem Einsatz von ‘Zeigefinger-Stirn’ und ‘Solo-Mittelfinger’ Kombinationen. Ich stelle mich innerlich auf eine Übernachtung am Flughafen ein und krame bereits Details von dem Film ‘Airport’ aus den hintersten Windungen meiner Ganglien hervor.

Das Therapiegespräch
Dann höre ich Jürgen sagen: “Our luggage has been lost. We have no car.” Am anderen Ende der Leitung: “Oh my godness - that sounds terrible!”

Auf jeden Fall ein 15 Minuten Gespräch mit der Psychologentante - am Ende steht ein entspannterer Jürgen und ein Zimmer für zwei Tage im Interconti, direkt am Hafen von Sydney. Super Leistung Jürgen! Im Geiste schreddere ich meine Kreditkarte. Aber das war dann nicht so schlimm. Jürgen hat voll auf die Tränendrüse gedrückt - und einen ansehenlichen Rabatt rausgeschunden. Super gemacht, Respekt!

Also mit leichtem Gepäck ab ins Taxi zum Interconti. Taxi fährt vor - Türen werden vom Portier aufgemacht. Die Frage, wohin er unser Gepäck bringen darf, haben wir lässig abgewunken. Jürgen ist noch nicht drüber weg. Gebärdenesperanto und neue, kreative Attribute für die Fluglinie werden gefunden.

Hang loose
Ab in den 23. Stock. Minibar - einen Ausblick auf Sydey - sensationell. Es läuft wieder. Mittlererweile ist es schon dämmrig, darum gehen wir noch schnell ein paar Fotos schießen. Vorher müssen wir natürlich noch zum convinience-store, zahnbürste kaufen - aber davon wird ja Jürgen noch in seinem Blog berichten.

Es ist zwar bewölkt, aber zumindest kein Regen und warm.  Wir gehen eine Runde zur Oper

Howdee! Nichts mit Delfinschwimmen gewesen heute. Bei meinem nächsten Lokalbesuch hau’ ich mir ein so ein Vieh auf den Teller. Das gibt’s doch nicht, dass die alle ihre Tage hatten. Pah. Ich wünsch’ ihnen die Krätze auf die Flossen. Meinen Greenpeacedauerauftrag habe ich auf jeden Fall sofort gestoppt. Ich unterstütze ab sofort Walfänger, Robbenjäger und Sushirestaurants. Da muss doch auch Delfin drin sein. Na macht nix - man muss auch verlieren können.

Also was kann man in Perth noch so machen. Wir haben uns ausgiebig die kulturellen Angebote durchgesehen, die Museen, die Kunstgallerien, Ausstellungen und Büchereien. Überzeugt hat uns für heute nur eins: ‘Extreme Shopping’ in der Funmeile von Perth. Yes! Unter unsere kulturelle Messlatte kann sich kein Limbotänzer durchschummeln. Das tat gut…

Die Skyline von Perth ist ja nicht übel…

Der ‘Bell Tower’ als musikalisches und kulturelles Zentrum… Brr… nix wie weg! Aber hübsch isser!

Während unserer Shoppingtour hat Jürgen mitten in einem Geschäft in ein ‘Didgeridoo’ geblasen. Das ist für einen Aborigine soetwas wie die Stradivari für einen Geiger. Ein Aborigine ist … ach schaut doch selbst nach. Auf jeden Fall ist dieses aktuelle Etwas knapp einen  Meter hoch. Jedes Kind und jeder größere Hund schlabbert tagtäglich an diesem Ding rum … und Jürgen schaut mich mit großen Augen an, während er an diesem Ding herumlutscht.

Na super. Ich habe gedacht, morgen früh läuft er rum wie der Frühling - 20 Fieberblasen nur auf der Oberlippe, die Unterlippe beim Bauchnabel.

Ich glaube ich sterbe!

Die erste seit Jahren…
Ich hasse Fieberblasen. 
Ab morgen steck’ ich auch alles in den Mund was so in den Geschäften so rumsteht…

Wie auch immer. Wir haben also den ganzen Tag in Kaffee’s, Geschäften verbracht und uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Und wir denken keine Sekunde daran, dass wir zu Hause auch hätten shoppen gehen können. Herrlich!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also beende ich diesen Tag mit einer neuen Tasche, einer Short und einem Hemd. Aber auch Jürgen hat mit einer erstandenen Hose zum Haliali geblasen.

Hallo zu Hause. Wie schon angekündigt, steht heute eine etwas längere Tour am Programm. Knapp 900 Kilometer von der Sharkbay zurück nach Perth. Unser Bolide ist geölt und es sind keine Probleme zu erwarten.

Dieser Bericht wird eher kurz, da ich es euch nicht zumuten wollte die 13 Stunden Fahrt in Echtzeit zu berichten. Wobei zwei Dinge aus der Fahrt vielleicht herausstechen: 

1. sonnenverbrannte Gegend

2. ein auflockerndes Überholmanöver
    … von Jürgen, der einen Road Train ‘geschnupft’ hat. Aufwärts. Mit unserem ‘Auto’!
    Ein RoadTrain ist so ein Laster, wo sich der Horizont schon krümmt, wenn man
    vom Heck die Fahrerkabine sehen möchte. Langes Teil. Also setzt Jürgen quietsch-
    vergnügt zu einem ‘RoadTrain-aufwärts-vor einer Kuppel-ich schaff das-und meinem
    Sonnenstich gehts schon besser’-Überholmanöver an. Der Caravan glüht am Roadtrain
    vorbei. Es muss Lichtgeschwindigkeit gewesen sein, denn es lief alles in Zeitlupe ab. Ich
    hätte den LKW neu streichen können, so sind wir vorbeigeschlurft. Es kommt also wie es
    kommen muss - Gegenverkehr in dieser gottverlassenen Gegend. Shit… Da kommen zwei
    große Scheinwerfer auf uns zu - und wir passieren gerade den ersten Hinterreifen. Ich schau’
    zu Jürgen - sehe nur einen erhobenen, endzeitlichen Daumen und ein beunruhigend stoisches
    Grinsen… Ich lächle mit erhobenen Daumen zurück und regle innerlich meinen Nachlass.
    Die Scheinwerfer knallen auf uns zu. Wir - Vorderseite erster Hinterreifen! Die Scheinwerfer
    kommen näher. Es könnte sich ausgehen… Ich erkenne, dass der Gegner kein Licht ein-
    geschaltet hat - die Scheinwerfer waren nur die geweiteten Augen des angsterfüllten
    Gegners. Position: Fahrerkabine. Schleppende Vorwärtsbewegung…
    Schließlich sprangen wir in letzter Sekunde nach links, die vordere und
    hintere Stoßstange  eingeklappt, damit wir in die Lücke passten. Stille … Der Camper
    fiel wieder auf alle vier Räder. Ein Blick zum erhobenen Daumen von Jürgen. Ein auf-
    munterndes Zunicken und weiter geht’s. Bei der nächsten Gelegenheit hielten
    wir an um Unterwäsche zu wechseln. Wobei ich natürlich darauf hinweise, dass Jürgen
    die Situation jederzeit im Griff hatte! (schwitz) 

Nicht dass jemand denkt ich übertreibe…. Hier noch ein Bild mit den Grössenverhältnissen.

Auf jeden Fall sind wir gegen 23 Uhr in Perth gelandet und haben dann relativ bald gemützt. Heute
morgen sind wir wieder bei Jürgens Familie (Jürgen, Annemarie und Markus) - ihr kennt sie von meinem
ersten Eintrag. Jürgen’s Onkel heisst auch Jürgen. Eben dieser Jürgen hat während unser Abwesenheit seinen Kitekurs absolviert und mittlererweile ist er der König der Lüfte.

Das motiviert uns, in zwei Wochen in seine Fußstapfen zu treten. 

Ich wünsche meiner Familie, meinen FreudInnen und KollegInnen ein schönes Weihnachtsfest und erholsamen Urlaub!!

Heute ist der Plan, dass wir Delfinschwimmen gehen. Der letzte Versuch ging schief, als wir beim Becken mit unseren Harpunen auftauchten. Heute gehen wir das subtiler an und tun so, als ob uns an diesen Viechern was liegt.
